EXTRA

The EXTRA program is designed to provide a more competitive level of play for those players who possess the appropriate interest, skills, and commitment. The EXTRA program maintains AYSO’s core philosophies: everyone on the team plays at least 50 percent of each game; selection to teams is based on open and fair evaluations; and the teams are chosen to create a competitive balance.

Players participating in the EXTRA program will compete against EXTRA teams from other regions. There will be some travel involved, but most EXTRA games will be played within Section 11 (Northern Orange County).

Fall 2025 Tryouts

Tryouts will be held on Sunday, April 6th and Sunday, April 13th at Westgrove Park.

· Players should pre-register for the tryouts at: Region 59 Tryouts.

· New and returning players must try out each year to be eligible for selection.

· Players must attend at least one of the scheduled tryouts to be eligible, however it is highly encouraged for players to attend both tryouts if possible.

· Tryouts are only being held for the division and age group shown below.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to your tryout session to check-in.

Players should bring water, a soccer ball, and wear appropriate soccer attire (shin guards, socks, and soccer shoes). Please print out the medical release form from our website and bring it with you.

TEAM FORMATION
Players will be evaluated by an experienced panel of judges. The region will determine the number of EXTRA teams based upon the number of EXTRA caliber players identified during tryouts and the availability of qualified coaches. We will want to make sure we form a team that is competitive with other EXTRA teams in Orange County. We will not form a team if we do not think it will be competitive. Teams will be made of players in single age brackets.

Extras Coach Application Information

Thank you for your interest in our Program. Please read through the requirements to be an Extra Coach in Region 59:

Extra Coach Requirements 2025/2026 Season

At least 3-years coaching experience. Preferably in Region 59.
Must have completed the AYSO coaching certification equal to the age group you are applying for.
Must have at least a Regional referee certification.
REQUIRED coaches meetings: 1) Welcome meeting (uniform orders and the upcoming season) 2) Section Extra meeting 3) 4) Extra tryouts
If your are selected as an Extra coach, you are ineligible to be a head coach of another team(s).
Represent Region 59 with dignity at all Regional events and at away games.
